Our salmon is carefully and ethically farmed in such a way as to limit its impact on the environment – advances in farming techniques have resulted in a high-welfare industry which is regulated by the BAP.
The ocean farms are managed by experts who nurture and care for the salmon to ensure that disease is minimised. Although the fish are securely contained within the farms, the fish are tracked to ensure that any escapees are quickly caught, to avoid any impact on the local wild population.
The salmon is a naturally efficient animal, which requires a much lower amount of feed to produce a kilo of protein than for chicken, pork or beef. With a lower carbon footprint than these other food sources, salmon is an important protein source for the world’s growing population.
